Nashville, Tennessee. What can I say? Visiting family, I’ve traveled to Music City a multitude of times. Trust me, if you are looking for a place to get out of your rut, Nashville is your ideal getaway.
Traveling again became possible with the introduction of Covid vaccinations as early as December, 2020. Both Pete and I were fully vaccinated by the end of March 2021 just in time for a May family wedding held at the Country Music Hall of Fame in downtown Nashville.
Love to shop?
Love country music?
Does a big ole plate of barbeque sound delish?
Ever wanted to pole dance on a wagon pulled by a shiny tractor?
Have an interest in country music’s history, stars, karaoke, and line dancing?
Ever wanted a great pair of cowboy boots and a hat to go with them?
If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, Nashville definitely should be on your travel bucket list.
Travelers Tip: Nashville is exciting but can be expensive. We stay at the Green Hills Hampton Inn and take Ubers into town. In my experience, parking is costly. You can also find great hotels such as the reasonable Hyatt Place located just a couple of blocks from all the action.
I find downtown Nashville exhausting. Your senses are filled with 24/7 music, large crowds, and the honky tonk party wagons are – something to behold. During one trip, Pete and I spent a couple of hours doing nothing but sipping on a beer while watching people of all ages behave wildly - and it was only 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Nashville has become a mecca for bachelor and bachelorette weekends and within 20 minutes of strolling Broadway, you’ll figure out why.
Traveler’s Tip: Besides the Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville is home to the Parthenon, Belle Meade Plantation, the Grand Ole Opry,
party bikes, Ryman Auditorium, the beautiful Cheekwood Gardens,
not to mention countless great restaurants. It may not be the most restful vacation, but if you’re into country music, you’ll think you’d died and gone to heaven.
Traveler’s Tip: Cheekwood Botanical Gardens is a member of the reciprocal garden's membership program. I bought a year membership for $95 (one member, one guest) while visiting in May 2021 and was able to use my pass at other participating gardens such as Yew Dell in Louisville, Ky and the Denver Botanical Gardens in Colorado during the next 12 months.
